“Two American mountaineers, who had gone to climb the remote peaks of Tibet, found themselves witness to violent demonstrations six weeks ago calling for independence.

The two Americans, Dr. Blake Kerr and John Ackerly, were detained after the first protest for possessing stickers of the Tibetan national flag. Kept under house arrest for three days by the Chinese authorities in Tibet, they were interrogated at length but not physically ill treated.”
