“Ask Blake Kerr about the dualities of his life -- medical doctor, author and human rights advocate --and he will simply raise his eyebrows in amusement. It is a polite way of saying, "Oh, we're going there?" Then he will talk about his first trip to Tibet, in 1987, where it all started. Dr. Kerr was just out of medical school when, on a lark, he climbed the Himalayas in sneakers, but said he ended up dodging bullets to treat victims of gunshots, beatings, torture and coerced abortions…”
